Weekend Update: NC 70.3, Hincapie Gran Fondo

Pretty sure this is the first time I have written a post in mid-OCTOBER where I had to mention that a tropical storm put a damper on our weekend. No thanks to Nestor, but sadly Chuck’s day ended before it began as they had to cancel the Grand Floridian Triathlon last minute due to the weather. We were able to have good times in Wilmington and Greenville but they were pretty soggy.

Windy conditions with some rain in the afternoon didn’t slow these ladies down. I’m happy to report that both Sheryl and Sandra PR’ed. Sadly no PR for Ashley today. Based on the photos she sent me I thought she might have made a poor bike choice (haha). However, she had a great time and in the end that’s all that matters! It’s always fun to have teammates go to races together, and I am lucky to have such a great crew who support each other.

It was a much chillier day in Greenville. The rain rolled in towards the late morning and the temperatures dropped from what was already cold enough- but that just made it that much more epic. Plus, they all rode to the start of the ride, for some adding 10 and the others 15 miles!

This was the 3rd time here for Robin, Sarah and Tracey and Sarah will be happy to report that she had a PR. Darrell, Josh and Missy were all first-timers and they all had a great time. Kimberly, Shannon and I were diligent sherpas and Layla did her best attempt at emotional support dog. I’d like to keep up the tradition of this being a yearly team event with more of our crew on board for 2020.

We have a week off next week but will be back in two for another BIG weekend! Stay tuned…
