Weekend Update: Lowcountry Splash, Dirty Kanza, WNC Flyer

We had teammates swimming and riding together this wonderful weekend. Saturday found us in Charleston and the Lowcountry Splash Open water swim and in Emporia, Kansas for the Dirty Kanza gravel grinder.

We had swimmers participating in both the 6 and 2.4 mile swims. Joelle took 1st in her AG in the 6 miler, coming in at just over 2 hours. That’s a long time to swim in the harbor- great work Joelle.

We had lots of athletes in the 2.4 mile swim: Alexis, Angie , Heather , Melissa, Robin, Sam, Sandra, and Sarah. While they all did awesome I want to give a special shout out to Alexis, Sam and Sarah for surviving their first ever Splash!

Lane was lucky enough to participate in the most famous gravel grinder of all time- Dirty Kanza. He raced the 100 miler and finish in 7:50. That’s a great time, this is a tough race. Great work, Lane!

And finally, we had a big contingent of riders at the WNC Flyer in Brevard on Sunday!

We had riders in both the metric century (62 miles) and the century (100 miles).

Ashley, Darrell, Joelle, Melissa, Missty, Robin and Sandy rocked the 62 miler. While I am proud of each and every one of them I would like to give a special shout out to Joelle , who signed up at the literal last minute for the 30 miler BUT then ended up joining her teammates in the metric. This was her LONGEST RIDE EVER and if you read above this was also the day after she won her AG for the 6 mile splash. Joelle, I am sorry you got stung by a bee.

Brian , Shannon, and Tracey all took on the challenge of the 100 miler. This was Tracey and Shannon’s first ever century and they rocked it. They enjoyed taking advantage of all the picnics along the way. Great job, guys and girls.

That’s it for this week- stay tuned for more awesomeness from our team!
