Weekend Update: Kiawah Island Kids Triathlon

Saturday was a great time for my youth Team AMEC athletes! They participated in the Kiawah Island Kids Triathlon.

As I predicted, Scotty was an overall contender. He placed 2nd overall and only 25 seconds behind 1st.  Scotty is starting his triathlon season strong and gearing up to his big race in a few weeks: the Richmond Youth Elite Triathlon.   His goal is to qualify for youth USAT Nationals in Ohio this summer.

Madison wins the “toughest girl out there award.” This is my award, not an official one, but it should be.  After getting a flat tire at the beginning of the bike course, she was told she could run the remaining of the course (including the rest of the bike leg) or quitting.  Obviously, quitting is not a word we use at Team AMEC, and this little dynamite chose to run. I am super proud of her grit and determination. I expect big things to come out of this little one!

And finally, a special mention to the rest of the Parker clan who are following in Scotty’s footsteps.  Sisters Lily and Emmylou showed their athletic potential by racing strong, with littlest lady placing 3rd in her AG.

These are kids to watch in the future!
