Kinsey Marie (Eschenburg) Brand grew up primarily in Wisconsin, attending Shorewood High School in Shorewood, WI, a small suburb of Milwaukee. She started swimming year-round at the age of 7 and started running cross-country at the age of 12. After several years of hard work in the pool, she finally started to see some results at the WIAA State Swimming Championships her senior year, placing first in the 100 free in 52.8 and 3rd in the 200 free in 1:53.7. All while working hard in the pool, her running seemed to follow naturally, peaking at the WIAA High School State Meet her junior year with a mile time of 5:05. Her dad swam for the University of Wisconsin at Madison and she quickly followed in his footsteps; garnering an swimming scholarship to The University of South Carolina. While attending, she also ran Cross-Country and Track and Field. After her sophomore year, Kinsey decided to quit swimming and focus on school and running. She attributes her continued interest in Masters Swimming and Triathlon to the fact that she did not burn herself out in college. After graduating college she decided to try out triathlon and quickly fell in love with the sport.

She began working with Anne in the Summer 2012 and specifically wanted help with the new challenge of cycling and bringing down her times.  She had a fantastic season- winning the Charleston Sprint Triathlon Series and coming in 3rd in her AG at The Nation’s Tri and thus qualifying for USA Triathlon Age Group Nationals in 2013, to be held in Milwaukee, Wi.

Kinsey is currently working on her MBA at Charleston Southern, and works at The South Carolina State Ports Authority.  She lives in Mount Pleasant and trains with TrySports Run Club, Masters Swim Team, Southern Marlins Racing Team (SMRT), as well as Anne Moore.
