Athlete Spotlight: Jennifer Amiet

I am so blessed to be working with so many awesome people all over the country.  This year has already brought me many new faces, including jenamy lovely “Jen A”.   Read on about her:

As an adult, Jennifer has always tried to stay active and fit,  to keep what she calls her junior high “chunky phase” from returning. Staying busy with tennis and track, she felt fit during high school and college.   She says, “Although after having two adorable children, I knew I needed to do more. My husband and I tried to workout regularly, having memberships at local gyms and going when we could. We completed the whole P90X challenge and I felt like I was in the best shape of my life. Little did I know what was to come…”

Never considering herself to be a runner she decided in January of 2012 to give it a try.  She made a goal for herself to run a half marathon before she turned 40- which  gave her two years to work towards it.  Jennifer says, “I started a little at a time, not very far and not very fast but I was doing it. My husband and I both “trained” a little and geared up for the Warrior Dash in June of 2012. We finished the 3 miles full of obstacles and had a great time!”

It was about that time that my husband Chris , who went to high school with Jennifer, reached out to her through facebook.   She says, “He told me [Anne] was a trainer, and a great one at that. He suggested I contact her if I ever wanted help reaching my goals. So I put that in the back of my mind….for later.  I continued to try to run more and increase my distance until this past winter. In January, I convinced myself I was going to run a half marathon in May.  I talked my best friend into doing it with me, which made me even more excited.”

And here’s where I come in…  Even though we live states away, I told her I could help her reach her goal.  Jennifer says, “Anne pushed me to places I didn’t think I could go and encouraged me like she was right beside me the whole time. It was the hardest I had ever pushed myself when it came to my fitness. But the results have been amazing thanks to Anne. There is no way I could have done it without her. I am now in the best shape of my life and I have a feeling it will only get better! I completed my first half marathon on May 4th, with a time I am proud of! Now we, Anne and I, are working towards more of my fitness goals and other half marathons! I can’t wait to see what else she can push me to do.”

Jennifer completed the Capital City Half Marathon in Columbus, Ohio  in 2:17:12, after never having a run longer than 4 miles when we “met” in January. SO very proud of her and looking forward to continuing to help her reach new goals!
